Admissions

We aim to make starting school a happy experience for both parents and children.

Children starting school for the first time are invited into the school during the summer term to meet their new teacher and the other children. Evening meetings are held with parents to explain classroom routines and give parents the opportunity to discuss matters relating to their child.

The Reception class teachers liaise closely with the local preschool and nursery settings and make visits during the summer term to help them get to know the children. All families are also given the opportunity to have a home visit in September, just before the children start school. In September, Reception children are phased into school over a period of several weeks, for morning or afternoon sessions initially, staying to lunch, then full time.

Children who join the school at any other time are invited to visit the school, to spend time with their class and meet their teacher.
