Nurture Provision

Nurture Provision at Cheddar First School

At Cheddar First School we are proud to be able to provide a full time nurture provision for our children, run by Mrs Cockram, a trained Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA). ELSAs are highly trained and supervised by the Local Educational Authority and Educational Psychologists.

This provision supports both children and parents on a 1:1 or small group basis to enable them to manage a range of emotions, behaviours and situations in a positive way. We believe that by removing the barriers to learning, which arise from life’s everyday challenges, we will have happy children both in school and at home. If you feel that you or your child would benefit from some additional emotional support, contact the school office for a call back.

  • Unlike our Nurture room, which is a timetabled Nurture provision, our Nurture Zone is a drop-in space for regulation.
  • In our Nurture zone, we have a black out tent, weighted blanket, sensory lighting, cuddly toys, a trampoline and large bean bags to help support pupils regulate.
  • Pupils of all ages are welcome to use this space throughout the day as required with adult supervision.
