PSHE

Intent

Children will become inspired and develop a curiosity, they will develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to manage their lives now and in the future. The subject will help children to stay healthy and safe. The subject will cover identify a broad range of prominent issues and it is important that the pupils recognise their PSHE education as relevant and applicable across many key areas of their lives. The Jigsaw programme is delivered consistently throughout the school, providing a spiral curriculum to develop knowledge, skills, and attributes, where prior learning is revisited, reinforced, and extended year on year. The PSHE education recognises regular changes in medical or technological advances and the need to keep parents informed where necessary.

Implementation

Jigsaw will look the similar across all year groups, with the use of the Jigsaw characters being included. The same language being used e.g calm time, chime bar, learning time. It will be taught for 45 minutes each week either by the class teacher or the teaching assistant. It will be taught in the classroom. Where applicable work will be gathered and filed in new purple folders with the children taking responsibility to file their work independently from back to front. All folders will have the Jigsaw Journal front cover. At the end of every lesson children are invited to verbally show their understanding of the lesson.

Impact

To have a clear and consistent approach to PSHE and to have strong, confident learners.
